STEK is a sci-fi comedy adventure featuring an unlikely crew and a retro universe that has seen better days.
01 / THE CONCEPT
To cover up a disastrous mission, Captain Berk claims to be on the trail of a mythical planet.
His lie turns into a genuine galactic treasure hunt. Aboard a barely functioning spaceship, his crew is dragged into a quest where breakdowns, enemies and questionable decisions compete for top billing.
STEK’s driving force: the gap between the scale of the adventure and the people trying to pull it off.
02 / THE UNIVERSE
Beige, brown, orange. Worn metal, tired machines and cobbled-together technology: science fiction inspired by the aesthetic of the 1990s.
The Confederation of the United Stars and its authority figures give this universe its taste for excess. Their motto: “Willingly or by force.”
The 4:3 format, expressive silhouettes and aged materials create a visual identity designed to serve the characters and the comedy.
THE CREW AT THE HEART OF THE STORY
A bad captain, an excellent survivor. Notoriously incompetent, Berk loves his rank more than the responsibilities that come with it. But when everything turns disastrous, his nerve and talent for improvising lies help him find unexpected ways out. One of those lies, invented to save his position, is what sets the adventure in motion.
Berk’s second-in-command and the ship’s pilot-navigator. Intelligent, clear-eyed and sarcastic, Smok often sees disasters coming without wanting to stop them. His exceptional talent for calculating trajectories contrasts with a disastrous sense of direction. Deeply jaded, he nevertheless cares about the crew and knows how to act when one of his own is truly threatened.
The crew’s connection to reality. Competent, methodical and pragmatic, Suzan understands people as well as systems. She respects the chain of command without ever being fooled by Berk, and when chaos takes over, she is usually the one who still knows what is going on.
A whole cast of equally unlikely characters orbits the SP-404: Bark Van Ohm, the unsettling master of The Consensus and supreme leader of the Confederation, whose authority extends across almost the entire known universe; General Gropakoff; Princess von Vox; the enigmatic KAHA; and Bark’s soldiers.

STEK combines writing, directing and visual creation with a production process that brings together 3D expertise and AI-assisted tools.
